Located at the height of 3636 metres on Nepal-India border (Illam – West Bengal), Sandakpur can be reached from Ilam bazzar by taking a vehicle upto Maimajhuwa khorsanitar via mai pokhari and then by trekking for about 5 hours.
As it’s the highest peak of Eastern Nepal and even the India-Nepal border, it’s main feature is the majestic view of four of the five highest peaks in the world, Mt. Everest, Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu and Mt. Lotse from this place. Rare wildlife like red panda, musk deer and the national bird Damphe can be seen in the forests of this area.
